A breach birth and a busy time

Hi everyone, sorry the blog has remained quiet, we have been exceptionally busy at Wellground for the last few weeks.

This is just a quick update, but I will be back with lots of video diary content and blog news very soon.

An update on our early birth, the cria was born very early in the morning on Monday, the dam Adelaide Blue was in the barn for the night, as the weather wasn't good, just in case she birthed during the hours of darkness. That was a good job she was in then, wasn't it ?

The cria a solid white male was born breach, as many of you know we have a CCTV camera mounted above the night time pen. Without realising it, we had caught the birth on the security DVR, Adelaide Blue was able to pass the cria alone without help with the rear legs coming first and the head appearing last. This has caused an issue. The cria has taken some amniotic fluid on board when taking his first gasp of air. He has a bit of pneumonia on the right lung. The vet has visited and checked him over, he has had a few jabs of antibiotics with an anti-inflammatory, and this morning he is looking much better.

He is a bonnie lad, and soon I will get some pictures and video up here for you. He has been called Wellground Moody Blue. Thank you to Lady Zanzibah for her suggestion for his name. We love it.

Back soon with lots more news.
